As the sole dish washer and floor scrubber in our home (before you pity me, please know the only yard work I’m responsible for is holding down the patio furniture. Oh, and I’ve never taken out the trash.), I’m always looking for the next “new and improved” nail polish claiming to stay on for days and days.
That, coupled with the limited “me” time I have for things like painting my nails, made me instantly curious when I stumbled into Sally Hansen’s new Complete Salon Manicure nail polish at CVS the other day.
To tell you the truth, I walked away from the product display at first when I saw the $7.99 price tag. How many $8 bottles of nail polish does a girl need (especially when the polish in most $8 bottles chips just as fast as the $2 variety)?
But the sign read “All 5 Steps of a Manicure in 1 Bottle.”
I couldn’t resist. I had to know more.
Base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color and top coat – all in one?
Two easy coats and I’m done?
Sign me up.
With my new bottle of “Wine Not” in hand, I headed for the check out.
So here’s my review:
The good news –
- The brush in this bottle is great. It’s actually shaped like a nail, making it easier to paint your own.
- Only two coats needed! This is great news for all my fellow base-and-top-coat sticklers who are used to applying four!
- The polish dries pretty quickly, allowing you to put on two quick coats and wait 5-10 minutes for drying.
The bad news -
- Without a true, separate top coat you get those annoying nail polish marks when your fingernail drags across a piece of paper.
The verdict -
So far I’ve put my manicure through two dish washings, two showers and a floor scrubbing with great results! It has has outlasted all of the other polishes I’ve recently tried. I will be buying this product in more shades!
Have any other time-saving products for me to try? I’d love to know!
