A Baby Changes Everything

theBABY has been part of our lives for six weeks now, and lately I’ve been thinking about how things have changed since her arrival.

While a LOT is different, I thought it would be entertaining to share how the conversations have changed around here.

A few examples…

Pre-baby: “What do you want to do for dinner?”
Post-baby: “When can she eat next?”

Pre-baby: “Where’s the remote?”
Post-baby: “Where’s her nuk?”

Pre-baby: “Want to go see a movie?”
Post-baby: “Want to go to Target?” (Yes, going to Target has become our new date of choice. Hey, there’s a Starbucks there!)

Pre-baby: “How was your day?”
Post-baby: “What has she been doing?”

Pre-baby: Alarm Sounds “Ugh.”
Post-baby: Baby Cries “Is this the first time she’s been up?”

Pre-baby: Insert sensible, adult conversation here.
Post-baby: Insert ridiculous baby talk here.

Other ways our lives have changed?

Well….

We no longer watch prime time television (and interrupt the bedtime routine? Not on your life!). Instead we watch reruns of The Office. (Did you know you can catch three episodes nightly?)

If we actually sit down for dinner together it almost feels like a date now (especially if theBABY is sleeping).

Six hours of uninterrupted sleep is like hitting the lottery (last night we got eight!).

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Got any stories about how your life changed after baby? Or dog? Or any other major life change?
