Some of My Favorite Things

It’s time for another round of my favorite things.

The way this works: I share some of my current favorites with you, then you tell me yours in the comments. Reading your comments is my favorite part, so please don’t skip it!

Enjoy!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Candlelight
I only have time to put on make-up once a day, so the longer it lasts the better. I discovered this little gem-of-a-product awhile back, and it’s well worth the $18 price tag. It’s an anti-crease eyeshadow primer that really works! Usually, my eyeshadow is ONLY in the crease of my eyelid by the end of the day, but my make-up stays put all day when I use Shadow Insurance first.

Best things about Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Candlelight:

  • Makes my eyeshadow last perfectly all day
  • Gives my eyelids a little shimmer
  • A little bit goes a long way

Bath & Body Works Mistletoe Kiss Hand Soap
One of life’s little pleasures is seasonal hand soap. No? Well, maybe I’m easy to please. One thing I know for sure is Bath & Body Works’ Mistletoe Kiss Hand Soap makes me happy. When we first started using it a few weeks ago, I felt a little like Mary Catherine Gallagher from SNL — you know, sniffing my fingers all the time. It smells that good.

Best things about Mistletoe Kiss hand soap:

  • It smells yummy
  • It smells yummy
  • It smells yummy (what else matters?)

Suave Dry Shampoo
This fantastic product was recommended by a commenter last time, so I gave it a try. Turns out, I totally agree with her! It works great and smells good, too. It’s nice to have on hand when you need to extend your ‘do. Also, it smells good. Did I mention that?

Best things about Suave’s Dry Shampoo:

  • Inexpensive and works as well as the salon stuff
  • Smells good
  • Gives your hair extra body – a fun bonus!

Olay Complete Sensitive Skin Moisturizer
When I mentioned that the only thing wrong with Olay Hydrating Liquid is the smell, a smart commenter suggested I give the Sensitive Skin version a try. Genius! No smell AND it has SPF 15. (This post is starting to reveal my obsession with smells, isn’t it?)

Best things about Olay Complete Sensitive Skin Moisturizer:

  • No stinky smell
  • SPF protection
  • Keeps skin moist {you’re welcome for that word, Melissa} without overdoing it

Now it’s your turn! Really, this is my favorite part, so share the love.

Anything goes! What’s the product/website/snack/book you can’t {or wouldn’t want to} live without?

Oh, and in case you noticed, I know I said I’d be writing about 2012 goals this week. I changed my mind, so it’ll have to wait until next week. Happy Thursday!

  1. -MAC paint pots. Similar to your Two-Faced Primer but eliminates my need for a base eyeshadow, this takes care of both.

-Sephora quick drying nail drops. Slightly pricey but dry your nails in a minute.

-Revlon Color Stay Foundation. Seriously, it’s as good as expensive foundations.

-A good stippled foundation brush (mine is a MAC). Leaves the face looking flawless.

I totally agree with Mistletoe Kiss. Love that stuff!

    • Just looked at your post from last time and I recommended nail drops then too! As you can see I love quick drying drops :)

I thought of another on my way to work- Shower Spray. I’m not picky on the brand but I ran out of this for a month and it was crazy how much ickier my shower was. Even with regular cleaning without shower spray my tile looks gross!

    • Ooh! Thanks for the tip about foundation! I’m totally bummed that the MAC girl talked me into the regular foundation brush instead of the one you have!!

  2. One of my favorite things is CILS BOOSTER XL by Lancome. It a product for eyelashes. It not only makes eyelashes look longer, it separates them so mascara is not all clumped up. You put it on before your mascara, let it dry a few seconds, them apply mascara. I’m hooked!

  3. 1) Express Lip gloss! I have like 7 of them now…I put it on at 9am when I get to work and I have to wipe it off at noon to eat lunch! That’s how long it stays on! And it doesn’t feel like sticky glue on your lips either! And they smell good (bonus for Sarah!!)

    2) Gelish polish from Sally Beauty Supply…I used to go to the salon every 2 weeks and pay $25 (plus tip!) each time for shellac on my nails. Gelish is very similar to shellac and the starter kit was only $70 and each polish bottle is $12.95 (with a Sally’s card…without, the polish is $14.95). I can do my nails at home…it lasts at LEAST a week with no chips and it’s so much cheaper than going to the salon.

    3) Extreme Repair Hand Cream from BeautiControl. I have an awesome BeautiControl consultant and I use a lot of their products…but this hand cream is amazing. I don’t like to put hand cream on during the day because I have to write so much at work, when my hands are all slimy, the pen slips out of my hand and it’s super annoying. I put this hand cream on at night before I go to bed and ever since I started using this hand cream, no bleeding cracks on my knuckles!

  4. I use MAC eye paints. It’s not the paint pot Melissa uses, it’s in a tube. The eye paint It’s $17.50 and you squeeze a tiny bit out and use as your base and it keeps your shadow on all day. My FAVORITE color is stilife and it is a shimmery neutral. The other one I use is called Bare Canvas and it is more matte. I wonder if there is a difference between the two other than the packaging? They sound similar.

My other favorite product is MAC lipglass. It’s ultra shiny lipgloss and it is amazing:-)

Is the Suave dry shampoo in an aersol? I use the Treseme dry shampoo. It’s ok. It does the job and smells good but I think it could work better. I’ll have to try the Suave. Thanks for the recommendations!!
