Four days ago bigSIS threw all three of her beloved pacifiers in the trash.
The big trash can in the garage.
That was the last time she saw them before the trash man came and emptied that big trash can this morning.
Frankly, I would have let her sleep with a pacifier until she decided she was done with it, but the doctor said it was time to give it up. And what the doctor says goes.
Which is why I may have strategically visited the easygoing pediatricians for her last several check-ups…maybe.
I’m quite proud of how she has handled this big change. One of many recent changes.
The last six months have been huge for her. She became a big sister, moved into a big girl bed, stopped wearing diapers, and now has given up the thing that gave her the most comfort in her little life.
She wasn’t comfortable.
She lost sleep.
She regretted throwing them away.
And yes, she cried.
But not once did she get mad at theBOY or me for asking her to take this big step.
As I head into some pretty big changes of my own (more about that later), I think I can learn a thing or two from her.
I pray she always grows up so gracefully.
